Venice Canals

working with a single raw

A Venetian Canal

I've visited Venice twice now, and I still want to go back again, you just need to look at the photo about to see why. It is an amazing place of beauty but also decay, coupled with vibrate colours.

I think Venice was made for HDR, it brings out colour in everything and the details in the buildings and patterns in the water.

How did I do it :: Before and After

Camera: Canon 40D
Lens: 10-20mm f4-5.6 (Shot at 20 mm)
ISO: 100 at f/9, 1/80
1 RAW image
Where was I: One of the Venetian Canals, 2009.
Hardware I used : Apple iMac
Software I used: Photomatix

What I did:
This was a single RAW file, as most where in Venice due to the amount of photos I took.

I dropped this into Photomatix and processed it as a Pseudo HDR with tone mapping.
This was the result, I made very little adjustments and as you can see it has really brought out the colours and detail as well as revealing the lost detail in the sky.
